I still feel Aspen and Snowmass will recover well because of the limited supply of real estate here. Aspen Colorado is also a unique place that can not be easily re-created. It is beyond comprehension to have four exceptional ski mountains all in one place. It also has great entertainment and restaurants for such a small area.
Natural activities abound Aspen and Snowmass in the summer with biking, hiking, golf, tennis, rafting, fly fishing, fishing, etc… Then there is the arts scene in Aspen with the Aspen Arts Museum, The Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, The Aspen Music Festival, and The Aspen Film Festival.
But now may be the right time to visit Aspen Colorado and see for yourself that it is indeed more affordable now than people think. Rents have come down significantly since the height of the rental and real estate market of 2007. Rates have dropped more locally than they have at other resorts as lodging properties compete aggressively for business.
Of note, Aspen has enjoyed three straight years of increased commercial airline capacity, an anomaly among mountain resorts around the West. Competition, particularly between United and Frontier, has resulted in lower fares and increased business for the airlines as more locals and visitors fly in and out of Aspen.
