Aspen Institute

Aspen Institute started as a vision by Chicago businessman Walter Paepcke in 1950 after having first visited Aspen in 1945. Paepcke was chairman of Container Corporation of America that was located in Chicago. He thought Aspen would be a great place to gather thinkers, leaders, artists and musicians from all over the world to reflect with leaving the hassles of everyday life back home.
The Executive Seminar was a seminar whereas attendees would read great works by classic and modern writers and help them better understand the human challenges facing the businesses and communities they serve.
In 1951, The Aspen Institute helped along the Aspen Musical Festival and Annual International Design Conference.
Aspen Institute has attracted attendees from the top thinkers of the entire world over the years from Presidents, to world leaders, and beyond. One of the most famous attendees was Albert Einstein.
