Grand Junction is the largest western Colorado town. It boasts a lot of activities and attractions including the must see Colorado National Monument (see photo). It also has an abundance of
restaurants, boutiques, art galleries, and museums. It also has the Mesa Mall, a large indoor shopping center anchored by Target, Macy’s, JC Penney, etc.. In the past decade it got a Sam’s Club, Home Depot, and Lowes. Grand Junction is also in the mist of Colorado Wine Country.
You can take a tour to the wineries and the nearby town of Palisades to see what makes some of Colorado’s wine some of the best in the country. They may be a couple hours from the big ski resort of Aspen, Snowmass, and Vail, but they have a small ski resort called Powderhorn nearby.
The camping, hiking, boating, and fishing by the Colorado National Monument is inspirational. This landscape of more than 20,000 acres dates back to over 1.5 billion years ago.
In the winter, this landscape is enjoyed by people that snowmobile and X-Country skiers. The activities available around Grand Junction are endless.
Now, there are many people moving to Grand Junction because of the energy boom. Many retirees and/or baby boomers are moving to Grand Junction to take advantage of the mild climate.
