Snowmass Base Village- Snowmass Colorado
Snowmass Village Colorado is just 8 miles from the Aspen airport or just 12 miles from down town Aspen. Snowmass ski resort was started in 1967 and offers most of its rentals with ski access. When compared to Aspen rentals, you can save 30% or more off comparable rentals in Snowmass. If your skiing Snowmass in the winter anyway, why not stay in Snowmass? I agree that if you are coming to Aspen for the nightlife, dining, and shopping, you would probably rather stay in Aspen. However, if you are coming to ski and want to ski Snowmass the majority of the time because it offers the famous wide intermediate groomed runs like no where else. Yet Snowmass still provides great slopes for beginners to experts too. Snowmass Ski Mountain is also 4 times the size of Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, or Buttermilk ski areas.
If you want to dine in Aspen, you can either take the bus to Aspen for a few dollars that runs to 2 AM every day or a taxi, if you don’t have a car. Either way, Aspen is closer by than people realize. There is something special about staying at a place in Snowmass that you can ski-in, and ski-out of. Once you try it, I think you will be back because it makes skiing a lot easier. This is one of the reasons Snowmass is so popular with families that come to ski. Snowmass makes it easier for families.
The place I recommend more than others for condo rentals with great ski access would have to be the New Snowmass Base Village. The New Snowmass Base Village is located at the bottom of the Snowmass ski area with new restaurants, shopping, and the New Tree House (where kids ski school resides and meets). The luxury one, two, and three bedroom units come furnished with fully equipped kitchens and just steps from the Elk Camp Gondola and Snowmass Mountain Express (6 person high speed chairlift). The location could not be better.
In the summer, you can stay at the Snowmass Base Village and save 50% average over comparable Aspen rentals. Also, it is a luxury property that offers central A/C which is still a rarity in Aspen or Snowmass. Snowmass also provides more serenity and peace away from the more hectic pace of Aspen. There are few crowds in Snowmass in the summer. And there are still plenty to do in Snowmass in the summer with the Elk Camp Gondola open, mountain biking down Snowmass Mountain, Snowmass rodeo every Wednesday, free music concerts on Thursdays, and different weekend events throughout the summer.
