The best things in Aspen Colorado are numerous. I have lived in Aspen my entire life and there are many things that are the best in Aspen. So, where do I begin telling you about the best things Aspen Colorado has to offer:
First and foremost, I have to talk about the skiing as the best in the world. We have not one, but four great ski areas. Buttermilk is known for beginners and is a great family mountain for skiers just starting out. It has been made famous over the years with the annual winter X-games celebrations. Aspen Mountain is known as the expert mountain and is the place to be seen or to people watch. It is nicknamed Ajax because it is always covered with the white substance. Aspen Highlands is now known as one of the very best extreme mountains in the world. In years past, it added the deep temerity lift that has made Highland’s Bowl a local favorite among top local and visitors skiers alike.
And not last, Snowmass is four times the size of all the other three and is known as the ultimate family mountain. I love it because it has something for everyone and is over 50% wide intermediate ski runs. Snowmass mountain is going through a rebirth with its New Snowmass Base Village that will make Snowmass one of the very best ski mountain again in the world, all by itself.
Second, I have to say our snow quality is the best one could hope for. Aspen and Snowmass snow quality is often portrayed as champagne powder. It is light as a feather in winter because of just the right temperature and little moisture. This makes fresh powder skiing in Aspen and Snowmass more enjoyable than many of the best things in life. Aspen and Snowmass are destination resorts, so they get 20% of the business than Vail. This is a great thing to keep the quality snow better and the powder last a lot longer in Aspen and Snowmass.
Thirdly, I have to say our climate in Aspen and Snowmass in both the summer and winter is incredible. In the summer, Aspen and Snowmass average in the 70’s to low 80’s F degrees. If you don’t like the weather, just wait five minutes and you will. In the winter the temperature average in the 20’s F degrees, keeping the snow low in moisture and creating the best temperature to ski in. Any ski area north of Aspen and Snowmass is too cold to ski and not enjoyable to me.
Fourth, is Aspen and Snowmass are surrounded by the White River National Forest. This makes for numerous great hiking to places that you can escape people for the day. There are many of many lakes to hike to and pack a lunch to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Being surrounded by the White River National Forest has prevented sprawl from occurring in Aspen and Snowmass. So, land is low in supply and high in demand since there is no where to grow for Aspen and Snowmass development. This has made Aspen and Snowmass one of the very best places to invest in real estate over time in the entire world.
Lastly, the restaurants and après ski set Aspen and Snowmass apart from all the other ski towns in the United States, if not the world. Aspen has some of the very best places to après ski. The first and foremost would be the Ajax Grill at the base of Aspen Mountain. For restaurants, the very best is Matsuhisa, known as Nobu in other parts of the world. Be sure to say “Hello to me”, my office is right at the Matsuhisa restaurant entrance.
