Aspen and Snowmass have been affected by the economy worse than anytime since the start of skiing in Aspen in the 1950’s. Aspen real estate and Snowmass real estate are now discounted around 40% off their highs. Many sellers that need to sell now are discounting prices over 40% off their highs. Total sales dollars, year to date for 2010, have doubled over 2009 for Aspen and Snowmass real estate.
Now may be the time to buy into Aspen real estate and Snowmass real estate. If you already own something here and have the money, it may be the right time to be looking at an upgrade of your real estate. Cash is king in this market for the best deals. However, you could also do a trade plus cash to upgrade. Sellers are looking to lessen their debt loads. There are some fantastic opportunities in Aspen real estate for single family homes that are older but have been remodeled and are selling for just around lot value of $2.5M to $3.5M. In Snowmass real estate, I love the opportunity to buy into the New Snowmass Base Village condos. These are new units with the best ski access locations selling for around 40% less than at the top of the market.
